Minecraft Update 1.16 also called the Nether Update brought amazing new things in the game. You get an entirely new region to explore along with new mobile like Piglin’s. Among the new items, you will need Crying Obsidian soon, it is one of the material that is rare and highly important in Minecraft. Why? I will explain in detail below.
What is the use of Crying Obsidian?
Crying Obsidian is not a standard block in Minecraft. It is a dark purple colored block, extremely easy to identify but tough to find. The primary use of Crying Obsidian is to craft a Respawn Anchor. It is another unique item that allows players to have their own custom Respawn Point in the game.
If you cancraft one Respawn Anchor in the game you can set your own point in the game. After dying you can respawn back at the set point in Minecraft. Below is the anchor’s recipe.
- 6x Crying Obsidian
- 3x Glowstone
To craft this item you will need around six Crying Obsidian and here is how you can find it.
How to Get Crying Obsidian?
Find a Piglin in the Nether and via trading, you can find Crying Obsidian in Minecraft. Wear a gold armor before dealing with a Piglin, a Gold Helmet can also do the job. Piglin is a hostile mob and they will not trade with you if you are not wearing Gold. Give a Gold Ingot to the Piglin and you will get an item in return. There is a more than 8% chance to get Crying Obsidian in return for Gold Ingot.
To help you more here is a list of items you can get from a Piglin. The percentage is the approx chance of getting that item. Starting from the highest one Soul Sand, Crying Obsidian, Obsidian, Nether Brick, Leather, Grave, and Fire Charges are the most common ones. These will be always available and rarest is Enchanted book and Iron Boots with Soul Speed.

With the above tips, you can definitely find Crying Obsidian in Minecraft and craft a Respawn Anchor. Just be ready to have enough golden Ingot in your pocket and you must have at least one gold on you, otherwise, the Piglins will attack you.
