There are two huge smartphones (phablets) coming your way this year- The LG Optimus G 2 and HTC One Max. Both of these devices will be competing with Samsung’s Galaxy Note 3. So far there have been a lot of leaks concerning the Optimus G2. Almost everything about G2 has been leaked- the specs, pictures and even a video. On the other handHTC has been very quiet about its One Max and only some of its specs have leaked. Take a look at what we know so far about these devices:

Update: LG has decided to drop the “Optimus” brand name and the new device will be simply called LG G2.

LG G2 specs

  • Android 4.2.2 Jellybean
  • Display: 5.2 inch 1080p
  • Quad-core 2.3 GHz Snapdragon 800 processor
  • RAM: 2GB
  • Camera: 13 Megapixels back
  • Release date: August, 2013
  • Dimensions: 5.46 X 2.80 inches

LG has decided to go with a different design concept for the G2 and has placed the home and volume buttons at the back of the device right below the camera.  The buttons are all capacitive which gives the device a more modern feel. Also, Optimus G had a larger screen (5.5”) and G2 has a smaller 5.2“ display which I think is an upgrade. All in all, the device looks great- like what we would expect the next Nexus to looks like. HTC One Max

There isn’t much we know about the One Max. What we know is it will be released on September this year and will feature a humongous 5.99 inch 1080p Super LCD HD display. With that release date and competitors like Galaxy Note 3, Xperia Z Ultra and LG Optimus G2, we would expect the following specs from HTC One Max:

  • Android 4.3

  • A quad-core 2.3 GHz Snapdragon 800 processor

  • Ram: 2GB

  • Internal Storage: 32/64GB with microSD support

  • Camera: Nothing less than 13MP

  • Battery: 3200mAH
