Roblox is known for its free kid-friendly games, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t fun Roblox games for adults, too. We’ve played so many we’re confident you’ll love some of what we think are the best Roblox games of 2023.
Dungeon Quest: Best Hack-and-Slash Action RPG
Dungeon Quest is a massively multiplayer online RPG inspired by dungeon crawlers like the Diablo and Gauntlet games. The formula is pretty straightforward: Explore dungeons, collect treasure, upgrade your inventory, then do it all again. However, what distinguishes this MMO is its impressive graphical style.
Unique artistic style and sleek animation.
Equally enjoyable single player and multiplayer experiences.
Addictive cooperative gameplay.
Not the most original concept.
Not as deep as other popular MMOs.
Repetative levels and gameplay.
Dungeon Quest offers a wide array of equipment and maps, but it’s not as intimidating to newcomers as titles like World of Warcraft. The game strikes an ideal balance between action and strategy to appeal to casual gamers and hack-and-slash veterans alike.
Tower Defense Simulator: Best Multiplayer Strategy Game
Tower Defense Simulator puts a new spin on an old genre. In the vein of Plants vs. Zombies, players must protect their territory against hordes of invaders. In this game, however, you can team up with friends or compete against other players. As you crush your enemies, you’ll earn money to renovate your tower.
Fun cooperate and competive gameplay.
Requires a good amount of strategy.
A good mix of enemy and ally units.
Very similar to other tower defense games.
Content sometimes gets removed from the game.
Advanced single-player levels get insanely difficult.
That said, the single-player mode packs enough challenge to keep you busy for hours. To survive, you’ll need a combination of speed, strategic thinking, and patience. Don’t let the generic title fool you; Tower Defense Simulator offers surprisingly deep gameplay that encourages players to engage with one another.
Theme Park Tycoon 2: Build Your Own Amusement Park
If you remember playing Rollercoaster Tycoon, you’ll feel right at home with Theme Park Tycoon 2. In this amusement park simulator, you build and manage your park, from the rides to the lavatories. Although you start with limited resources, you can add amenities as you attract more visitors.
Multiple save slots allow you to build multiple parks.
Lots of neat social elements.
Build underground rides with the Terra forming tool.
All of the options are a little overwelming at first.
Few in-game instructions.
Not as many options as Rollercoaster Tycoon.
Given your financial and space constraints, you must carefully plan your park layout to accommodate as many guests as you can. Players can visit each others’ parks and even collaborate, making some friends and getting new ideas for their projects.
Jailbreak: A New Take on Cops and Robbers
In Jailbreak, players start off choosing between a life of crime or taking an oath to uphold law and order. If you choose the criminal’s path, your objective is to break out of jail and enrich yourself through dishonorable means. If you’re on the side of law enforcement, your job is to keep prisoners in jail and chase down runaways.
Creative concept that blends multiple genres.
Intricate open world to explore.
Fun to play as a cop or a criminal.
Glorifies illegal activity.
Playing as a cop isn’t quite as fun as being a criminal.
It sounds like a simple concept, but the game has more depth than you might suspect. Once you’re exploring the open world and committing crimes at will, Jailbreak begins to feel like a kid-friendly version of the GTA series. Four years after its release, Jailbreak remains one of the top titles on Roblox.
Phantom Forces: Best First-Person Shooter for Roblox
One of the few games that may not be appropriate for young children on Roblox, Phantom Forces is an FPS inspired by the Call of Duty series. If you’re a fan of those games, you won’t be disappointed. The gameplay is comparable to every other FPS, but that doesn’t make it any less fun.
Several distinct classes to choose from.
New weapons and mechanics are introduced regularly.
Multiplayer modes add variety to gameplay.
Contains gun violence.
Crude graphics and character models.
Not as intricate as FPS games like Call of Duty.
If you’re not into shooting games, then obviously Phantom Forces isn’t for you. That said, the game isn’t excessively gory like many FPS titles. If you give it a shot, you’ll likely find yourself competing against people of all ages.
Scuba Diving at Quill Lake: Best Wind Down Game
If you’re looking for a game that is the opposite of frustrating, look no further than Scuba Diving at Quill Lake. As an underwater treasure hunter, your goal is to survey the bottom of a vast lake and locate hidden relics. As you collect treasure, you can purchase upgrades that allow you to access new areas.
Adorable graphics and sound effects.
Perfect for winding down after a long day.
Fully realized underwater world to explore.
Not particularly challenging.
Simple mechanics may bore some players.
Too short.
Quill Lake has its roots in exploration games like Pitfall, but there are no traps or platforming involved. Nonetheless, although the game isn’t challenging, it still feels good to uncover new secrets. If you’re looking for a game to play before bed that won’t get you too wound up, Quill Lake is perfect.
Adopt Me!: Most Adorable Online Virtual Pet Game
Adopt Me! is a social game where you get to raise cute animals from birth, watch them grow, and even combine them to make mutants. There’s no battling or challenge to speak of; just dress up your pets, show them off, and trade with your friends.
Huge selection of pets and costumes.
Distinct visual style.
Combining animals produces interesting results.
Little gameplay variety.
No real objective beyond raising pets.
Chat feature isn’t always moderated.
Virtual pets became extremely popular in the 1990s, but no kid back then could have imagined something as cool as Adopt Me! The game constantly adds more animals and outfits, and new content usually focuses on specific themes (Halloween, Lunar New Year, etc.).
Ninja Legends 2: Best Platforming Game on Roblox
Roblox has a somewhat limited selection of platforming games, but Ninja Legends 2 makes up for the lack of quantity with this high-quality MMO. As a ninja, your goal is to perfect your parkour abilities and traverse colorful worlds. It can be exhilarating, as long as you can stomach the in-game camera.
Fast paced action and unique levels designs.
Lots of weapons and accessories to purchase.
New levels and power-ups are frequently added.
Aggressivly pushes in-game purchases.
Camera angles can get nauseating when you’re moving fast.
The game offers an insane amount of customization, and new items are released regularly. Many things are behind a paywall, but you can unlock everything without paying any real-world money just by playing the game. You can even give your ninja a pet.
Anime Fighting Simulator: Best PvP Fighting Game With Classic Characters
Like many games on Roblox, Anime Fighting Simulator has an unfortunately generic name that doesn’t quite capture its awesomeness. In this underrated gem, all of your favorite anime heroes come together to duke it out. Why? Does it even really matter? It’s just plain cool.
A must-play for anime fans.
Regular sales for in-game purchases.
Characters are instantly recognizable.
Some of the fighters aren’t technically from anime.
Not as complex as other fighting games.
New characters are rarely added.
Fighters include characters from Dragon Ball Z, Naruto, The Last Airbender, and even anime-inspired video games like Final Fantasy VIII. It can’t compete with games like Dragon Ball FighterZ on Steam as a fighting title, but you’ll want to test out each character to see their special moves.
Hide and Seek Extreme: Best Roblox Game to Play With Friends
Hide and Seek Extreme is the next best thing when you can’t play hide and seek with your friends in real life. Shrink down to miniature size and run through real-life environments to avoid the person who is “It,” or try to track down players in hiding.
Creative levels with lots of places to hide.
Great alternative for when you can’t play with friends in person.
Fun power-ups keep things interesting.
Rather simple premise.
Inconsistent graphics.
Players have no control over who is “It.”
“Extreme” may not be the best superlative to describe the game since the levels are pretty mundane. That said, one cool feature is that the person designated as “It” can use special abilities to help them catch other players. As you win games, you’ll earn points that you can spend on new powers for when you’re “It.”
