This week on tech, Microsoft starts taking pre-orders of Windows 8.1 for new users, SkyDrive gets Smart Files and Optical Character Recognition features. In a sudden change the software giant stops recommending its own antivirus solution, Microsoft Security Essentials, and it’s advising users the software is just a “baseline” and you should install a third-party AV solution for better protection.
The Mail app for Windows 8.1 gets some new interesting features, but only when using an Outlook.com email account.
Once again, from October 4th and until the 6th is Xbox Live Gold weekend and this means that all Xbox 360 owners without an online membership will be able to get access to all benefits of Gold. Also don’t forget to check the two new games Microsoft is releasing in October for Gold members.
