This week on tech, Microsoft rolls out a new preview of Windows 10 (build 10074) to the Fast and Slow ring of updates bringing a number of new features and improvements, including a new blur effect in the Start menu and taskbar, new Cortana UI with better integration with the Start menu, and various tweaks in Settings apps.

During the BUILD conference in San Francisco, Microsoft’s Joe Belfiore showed off a number of new features that are part of build 10074 and others that are coming in future builds of Windows 10, such as Windows Spotlight, which brings a new form of interaction to the Lock screen. In addition, the company revealed a new improved UI for Cortana, tweaks in the Start menu, and now we have an idea on how Windows 10 will look like for small devices.

The software giant also reveals Project Spartan real name, the company calls it “Microsoft Edge” and it features a logo identical to Internet Explorer.

Among other things, at BUILD, Microsoft announced that it will make easier for developers to port their Android and iOS apps into the Windows 10 ecosystem and use the Windows Store to distribute apps to the 1+ billion of users that will be using Windows 10.

This week we had a closer look to the Start menu, Settings app, and new apps for Windows 10 build 10061 and this build also received four new updates to fix various vulnerabilities.

Windows 10 build 10102 leaks onto the internet, however their new version of the operating system did not show any significant changes.

Xbox Live Gold member can now start downloading free several new games for Xbox One and Xbox 360. In addition, Xbox 360 gets an interesting update that unlocks the ability for users to finally plug an external hard drive of up to 2TB in size.

Microsoft reveals Windows 10 will release later this summer, but only for the desktop. Windows 10 for phones and other devices will launch on a later date.

Finally, the software giant confirms that is killing Windows Media Center in Windows 10. All this and more…
